Every year since its inception in 1981, 10,000 music professionals, 1000 artists and more than 50,000 music fans have converged on New York City for CMJ Music Marathon, the flagship production of the CMJ Events division. In addition to keynote speakers and a corporate exhibition area with a live performance stage, the event welcomes key industry executives for panel discussions covering all corners of the music world. At night, thousands of established and up-and-coming artists perform at clubs throughout New York. CMJ Music Marathon also serves as a showcase for corporate sponsorship and global media events, such as the Coca-Cola® New Music Award, a competition in partnership with the Coca-Cola Company, the American Music Awards and the CMJ Network. Running concurrently with CMJ Music Marathon, CMJ FilmFest explores the convergence of music and film, featuring a mixture of major studio premieres, independent features, short films and documentaries.
